Doppler

Doppler Ultrasound can be used to scan the vascular arteries and veins throughout the body to assess for blockages or narrowing. AVR specialises in detailed vascular scans with experienced vascular Sonographers that have undertaken extra training in this area.

Carotid Doppler Ultrasound

An ultrasound scan is used to assess the arteries in the neck that supply the brain with blood (carotid arteries) for disease that can cause blockage of blood flow to the brain and in turn cause Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA) and stroke.

Upper and lower limb Doppler

The arteries in the arms and legs can be well assessed with ultrasound to check for narrowing and blockages that can cause pain in the muscles with walking (claudication).

Venous incompetent (varicose vein study)

An ultrasound scan can be used to assess the flow of blood within the veins to diagnose the cause for varicose veins, this is then recorded in a detailed report to your doctor.

Aorta Aneurysm screening/surveillance

An ultrasound scan is used on the abdominal aorta to assess for an aneurysm or if there is a known aneurysm the size can be followed up.

Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)

An ultrasound scan of the deep veins of the arm and legs is used to check for the presence of thrombosis.

Pelvic Congestion Scans

The pelvic veins can assess for dilation and deep varicose veins within the pelvic that cause pain and discomfort, these scans are normally in females.
